The region around Nevşehir,Kırşehir,Aksaray,,Niğde,Kayseri is named Cappadocia. But those famous Fairy Chimneys are mostly located In Göreme,Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos,Derinkuyu,Ihlara district. Volcanic lavas erupted by Hasan Mountain, Güllü Mountain and Erciyes Mountain approximately 60 million years ago formed tuffs with a height of 100 - 150 meters in the region. At this stage, the way for the formation of fairy chimneys was opened and they became what they are today with earth phenomenons. Thus, interesting information about Cappadocia emerges. The fairy chimneys, shaped by hundreds of years of rain, flood waters and winds, have survived to this day with a hard ground and rock blocks.Its becouse of these tuffs are so softy Its easy to dig it and create some Chapels,Castles, Underground cities and Monasteries inside.
